Ionization Technique Choices

Decide what ionization technique you want

Our lab’s instruments are capable of all the modern ionization techniques. Depending upon your sample type, one or more ionization techniques may be appropriate for your sample. Below you will find a flowchart to aid you in deciding which technique may be best for your sample. For a detailed description of each ionization technique and its requirements please see the appropriate ionization technique page. If you have difficulty deciding on an ionization technique for your specific sample type, please feel free to contact the Mass Spectrometry Lab staff, frs [at] illinois [dot] edu.
