The Graduate College welcomes you to our annual information session on the National Science Foundation’s Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF-GRF). This year's session is on video, and we invite all undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty wishing to learn more about the NSF-GRF to view the session here.
The session features Dr. William Hahn, former Director of the NSF-GRF program; Dr. Ken Vickery, Director of Fellowships in the Graduate College; and two Illinois awardees: Sarah Bonson from Chemistry and Kellie Halloran from Mechanical Science & Engineering.
The NSF-GRF is one of the nation's premiere fellowships for graduate study. Fellowships support US citizens, nationals, and permanent residents pursuing research-based master’s and doctoral degrees in the sciences, social sciences, engineering, and mathematics. Seniors as well as students in their first or second year of graduate study may apply.
The three-year fellowship provides a $34,000 annual stipend, a cost-of-education allowance, international research opportunities, and internship opportunities with federal agencies. For details on the fellowship, visit the NSF-GRF listing in our Fellowship Finder database.
Our Office of External Fellowships offers individualized advising for students applying for the NSF-GRF (as well as for any other external fellowship). For details, visit our proposal advising webpage.
We hope you enjoy the information session. If you have any questions, please contact us at ExtFellowships@illinois.edu.
