Organizations that have a commitment to supporting the unique talents and perspectives of all members tend to be more successful. Unique teams that find ways to synergize their differences are more likely to explore creative and innovative ideas, be better collaborators, and build communities where members feel involved and thus more committed to the team.
As a result, the School of Chemical Sciences (SCS) seeks to further that excellence by actively fostering a unique but connected community where issues can be discussed and where all Chemical Sciences employees feel supported.
Specifically, the goals of the School of Chemical Sciences Cultural Excellence Committee include:
- Employees – We provide a confidential avenue for employees within SCS to safely approach the committee with concerns. The committee strives to promote a workforce that also includes people from backgrounds that are under-represented within the field of higher education.
- Facilities – We endeavor to ensure all laws are followed, and to oversee, evaluate, and provide recommendations that safeguard safe, open, welcoming, and accessible labs and facilities.
- Community – We seek to uphold departmental, college, and campus missions and values to address barriers keeping all within our community from feeling a sense of welcome and belonging.
