ISSSTRAINS Intercultural Training Opportunities

ISSS invites you to our Spring 2021 ISSSTRAINS Intercultural Training Series! Workshops complement one another, but there are no prerequisites, so join any or all! Each workshop is student-friendly and is offered twice each day to accommodate differing schedules. Choose either 10:00 to 11:30 am or 3:00 to 4:30 pm (CDT, Urbana-Champaign time). Register here for zoom links, and contact Nick Dunn with any questions.

• March 23rd – Mindful Intercultural Communication. In this workshop, we practice engaging in intercultural situations with intentionality and emotional intelligence.
• April 6th – Communicating Across Languages. Linguistic and cultural differences can muddle communication and cause people to act different from their authentic selves. We build intercultural empathy and skills for bridging linguistic divides so we can better serve our colleagues, students, and customers.
• April 20th – Bridging Dimensions of Difference. Deep cultural differences can frustrate and divide teams unless you proactively identify and reconcile those differences. We explore how we differ culturally from colleagues and those we serve. We then workshop actionable ways to build on the strengths those differences represent.
