The Department of Statistics at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign is excited to announce our second annual Blackwell Summer Scholars Program to honor the great mathematical statistician, Dr. David H. Blackwell. Last summer's event was a huge success for our student participants and we look forward to building on that success this year.

We are reaching out to you in hopes to find prospective students interested in learning more about statistics, data science, and mathematics in an intensive six-week research workshop program - beginning May 23, 2022, and ending July 1, 2022. This year, the program will take place entirely on the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus as student participants will pair up with faculty mentors to work on various research projects. Transportation, housing, and meal accommodations will be fully covered by the Department of Statistics and student participants will be provided a generous stipend to cover additional expenses during the program.

For more information about this program and for a link to the application, please visit the Blackwell Scholars website. We ask that you share this information with any rising juniors and seniors interested in statistics, mathematics, or data science. The deadline to apply is March 1, 2022, and we will send out acceptance notices on March 15, 2022
