Chemistry Teaching Labs receive Chelsea Santucci Greenovation Award

This past academic year, an amazing 578 pounds of plastic gloves were diverted from the waste stream in the Department of Chemistry Teaching Labs. Rather than being thrown away, those gloves went to a program that repurposes them into a variety of other uses.

Led by Serenity Desmond, the assistant director of Teaching Labs for Chemistry, and physical science technical assistants Michelle Colombo, Justin McGlauchlen, and Alexis Waite, these efforts to repurpose previously hard-to-recycle items have garnered a Chelsea Santucci Greenovation Award from Kimberly-Clark Professional.
