Built in 1937, the Chemistry Annex - 601 S Mathews Ave in Urbana, IL - is located just a few steps south of Noyes Laboratory. It's also connected by an underground tunnel that goes under Matthews Ave.
The original cost to build the Chemistry Annex was around $335,000, adding 39,000 square feet of working space and classrooms.
A $14 million rehab and renovation project started in July 2013 and was completed in the Fall of 2016.
The project included interior improvements, the addition of new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, and a 9,000-square-foot addition which included an elevator, fire egress stairs, and collaboration spaces.
