MD/PhD panel of MCB Alumni

Join us on Thursday, March 4th at 5:00 PM CT for our next Alumni Connection. Three of our School of MCB alums who have completed or are in the midst of their MD/PhD program will be talking about their career path.  They will answer any questions you might have about MD/PhD programs and things you should be doing now to prepare.

Adam Wolfe completed multiple degrees from UIUC.  He earned his BS in Cell & Structural Biology in 1997, his MS in Biology in 1999, his PhD in Cell and Developmental Biology in 2006 and his MD in 2008.  Adam completed a fellowship in Wisconsin before joining Children's Hospital of San Antonio, which is affilated with Baylor College of Medicine, in 2014. 

Pha Thaprawat graduated from UIUC with her Bachelors in MCB in 2017.  She is currently in her 4th year of the Medical Science Training Program at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, which will culminate in her earning both an MD and PhD.

Adam Szmelter graduated from UIUC with his Bachelors in MCB in 2013.  He is currenty in his 6th year of the Medical Science Training Program at the University of Illinois, Chicago.  He has completed the first 2 years of his medical school curriculum and is in his 4th year of the PhD program.  Next year he will start Phase 2 and 3 of the medical school curriculum to complete his MD.
