LAS ACADEMIC POLICY MESSAGE FOR SPRING 2021

Date
05/13/21

To All LAS Students:

We hope you are well as the SP21 semester ends. We write to review the primary SP21 Academic Policy Revisions and to explain our SP21 Academic Standing Policies:

Final SP21 grades will be accessible on Saturday, May 22
The window for electing the PZ/NZ option opens May 22 and closes at 11:59 PM Thursday, May 27
Grades of D- or higher earn a PZ and can be used to satisfy major, minor, and general education requirements, but some restrictions apply if you are planning to change your major or transfer to another college on campus.

Failing grades earn an NZ: Fs resulting from an academic integrity sanction are not eligible for this option

  • Neither PZ or NZ grades are factored into your GPAs
  • Given these Policy Changes, we will not place students on academic drop status after the SP21 semester:
  • All such students will be continued on College Probation
  • Students can still clear themselves by posting a qualifying SP21 Term GPA and major and cumulative GPAs of 2.0 or higher, regardless of the number of graded hours completed

On May 22, we will send a similar message to all LAS students receiving a C- or less in one or more SP21 courses, reminding them of the May 22 – May 27 PZ/NZ window.  In the meantime, please contact your academic advisor if you have questions about any of these policies or need assistance in any way.  We are here to help.

Best,

The LAS Student Academic Affairs Office
