The Department of Chemistry encourages postdoctoral researchers to apply for the 2024 St. Elmo Brady Postdoctoral Inclusive Excellence Symposium (SEBPIES) by April 1, 2024. SEBPIES provides a forum for a diverse group of postdocs interested in pursuing research faculty positions and honors St. Elmo Brady, who in 1916 became the first African American to earn a PhD in chemistry in the U.S., graduating from the University of Illinois. A committee of faculty and students will select speakers for a visit to the UIUC campus on June 7, 2024. The in-person symposium will include various activities, including a one-hour research presentation and reception for all participants. All travel expenses for selected participants will be covered.
