Student Machine Shop Rules

1. Successful completion of Machine Shop Course required BEFORE using Shop.
2. Machine Shop Employee MUST BE PRESENT at all times that equipment is in use.  
3. DO NOT USE A MACHINE if ANY DOUBT about operation or safety. If Safety Officer has any concern about your knowledge of equipment use/safety, your session will be ended immediately.
4. All Shop tools MUST be handled in a safe manner.
5. REPORT safety problems/concerns to David Williams, Shop Supervisor.
6. Safety glasses MUST be worn at all times.
7. Loose fitting clothing is NOT allowed when operating Shop equipment.
8. Long hair MUST be restrained in such a manner so as not to be a safety hazard.
9. Work areas must be kept clean and free of debris.
10. All tools must be cleaned and replaced after each use.
11. All machines must be cleaned after each use.
12. After-hours use is temporarily unavailable (7/1/2019).
13. Non SCS Personnel Rate is $28.00 per hour (tools and tooling provided)
14. Only work related to University projects may be performed in the Shop.
