The SCS NMR Lab has added a new benchtop NMR spectrometer. This new spectrometer (BTN60) can operate at 60 MHz (1.4 Tesla) and runs both NMR and relaxometry experiments.
The instrument, which comes from Nanalysis, was obtained to mostly measure T1 and T2 values, and it has been accessorized to further provide sample temperature control from 5 – 45 °C. This feature gives it a capability that is not available commercially.
The BTN60 magnet is not superconducting, therefore it needs no cryogens (like liquid helium and nitrogen) and the magnet stays on at all times. This provides field stability and standby shimming, all while running on a powerpack that's similar to one that powers a laptop.
